Save the Date for Alumni Weekend 2015!

SAVE THE DATE! Alumni Weekend 2015 will be April 23 through April 26.

Next year marks the Pi Chapter's 150th anniversary, so we decided to hold a four night / three day Alumni Weekend to celebrate! Stay tuned for important details regarding preregistration, room blocks at local hotels, and everything else that you'll need to know in order to attend!

Also, if you'd like to help plan this joyous affair, please email the Alumni Weekend Committee at aw@pizetes.org. Thanks!

Happy Pi Day!

Well it's March 14 again, which means it's Pi Day! So obviously, you should donate to your Pi Chapter now! Check out this page for your options: http://www.pizetes.org/donations/

Also, if 314 alumni donate to RPI today, two trustees will donate $25K each to the Annual Fund. If you have extra disposable income after donating to the Pi Chapter, why not send RPI some money too? Information is here:

Telecommunications Project Progressing

The house is currently installing new Ethernet and coaxial wiring to each bedroom in an effort to modernize the telecommunications capabilities of the chapter. Pictures of the effort can be found here: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.679158298772116.1073741837.160736730614278&type=1

The far wing is almost complete. The near wing should be completed by the end of the week, and the rest of the house should be completed in time for school to begin on 1/21/14. Thank you to the laborers and the donors for making this project possible.

A Pi Zete Spends his Summer in Pearl River

Nick Keefe has been interning at IHQ in Pearl River this summer. We finally caught up to him to see what he's been working on: Right now, I have a few projects that I'm currently working on. One is the creation of a binder for active Phis to use that will cover major topics that all chapters should be aware of. It will include topics such as recruitment, pledging, philanthropy, risk management, ritual, how to budget, and a few others. We should have it ready for convention this year. By creating this, we hope to make the transition for new Phis less daunting, and thus they will become more efficient and effective leaders. Our goal is for this binder is to get passed from current Phis to the next one and so on. I've also been working on the database and convention planning. I'll be attending convention for free so that will enable another Pi Brother to go for less money.

Thanks for the news Nick. We're all very proud of you and hope you bring a lot of good stuff back to Troy!

Sprinkler Progress!

We only have verbal updates from Troy regarding the sprinkler installation, but we hope pictures are coming soon. The street excavation commenced this week. A medium-size backhoe dug the hole in the street and put the earth in a big dump truck. Both these are parked in the street overnight with traffic cones channeling cars down to a single lane. There are thick steel plates over the hole. The City began tapping the water main yesterday and installed a large valve on the lateral.

More to come soon!
